Boast

Hail fellow thanes who gather about me—
For I am Celia Zaeringer, dweller of the lake.
From the land of Bucktown, here in Metairie.
Daughter of Kevin Zaeringer, engineer in marine construction,
And Sloan, manager of properties.  Sister of Connor and Sophia,
Twins and students of learning.
From beneath the sea I come!  I howl!
Player of music, rambler of rocks,
Road runner, and rafter of white water.
Keeper of peace among rug rats,
I look for storms of swords between my followers with
Eagle eye, observing from above,
Breaking wind, watching for disagreements among my friends.
I speak of and boast of the victories of the
Blue, Black, and White Tigers!
And how ‘bout them Black and Gold Boys?!
I am awakened by the time keeper—
Flaring my walking-propellers, I leave my dwelling place with
Great speed.  Conquering my studies.
Riding on the transit to knowledge.
Strong-willed, I get ready for scholar’s home—The many achievements.
Under a glowing pear in the darkness.
I study the material—Top of the Class I am hailed:
Student of Honor!  Ahead of many!
A challenge is decreed by my superior—
I am solver of problems, collaborator of homework,
Experimenter of science, preparing way for
My successors in this mighty scholar’s home.
I’ll make good of my boast and talk with more passion—
Writers will celebrate my accomplishments with inspiring cries,
Shaping my actions into songs that will last for ages.
